Inspired by the myth of Persephone and the infamous pomegranates that bound her between worlds, this piece symbolizes duality, temptation, transformation, and the cost of becoming.
The pomegranates represent desire and destiny; one decision capable of altering an entire existence. The skulls reference her marriage to Hades and her time within the underworld, symbolizing death, rebirth, and the surrender of innocence that often accompanies transformation.
According to the myth, the earth itself mourned her descent. As Persephone entered the underworld, warmth faded and the seasons changed, bringing autumn and winter in her absence. Her return marked renewal, life, and the arrival of spring.
This piece reflects the understanding that transformation is seasonal. There are moments meant for bloom… and others meant for descent, reflection, and rebirth.
